We have always had the
dream to roast our own coffee and now that dream is a reality! We
select some of the finest, speciality grade coffee from around the
world and roast it with love and meticulous attention to every last
detail in our red roofed coffee roastery.
A coffee bean has had an incredible journey before it gets to that point. It starts life as the seed of a coffee cherry. Yes, coffee is a fruit! It is picked when ripe, and processed to remove it from the fruit. We could go into great depth about this but for now let's move onto after it has crossed the oceans and lands at our door.
A coffee bean arrives
at our coffee roastery as a small, very dense, and hard, green bean.
If anything it smells more vegetal than delicious! The job of the
coffee roastery is to then roast this little green bean and turn it
into something incredible! Each coffee is worked on to find the best
'recipe' to roast it to, to unlock all the bean's potential.
Each batch of up to
15kg is carefully managed during its roasting, which takes around ten
minutes, taking it to a temperature somewhere just over 200°C.
The roastery's job is
not done there though. Each roast is analysed and tasted to check it
is up to our high standards, before being packaged up and made ready
for either you to purchase to enjoy at home or in one of our cafes!
