Not quite sure how it is July already but here we are. It's been a whirlwind since the last update about our coffee roastery build so let me give you the lowdown.
The outside of the building is now all but finished with the biggest change being the Scottish larch cladding on the extension. We think it looks beautiful! It was also brilliant to get our 30 solar panels installed and all hooked up. With electricity being so expensive this was brilliant to get completed. Delighted to add the solar panels alongside our biomass boiler meaning half of our power and all our heat and hot water are from renewable sources.
The inside is now not far off being completed too! All the electrics and heating are done and this week the few internal doors have been fitted and the skirting boards are just about to go on.
The huge news is that the roaster itself arrives on Monday! Don't get ahead of yourselves though! It won't be commissioned till late August once we have had the flues, gas, water, and power all connected up to it. Lots to do still, but it is super exciting that it will be here soon! We have been working on sourcing our first batch of coffees with a very experienced coffee buyer who has also been doing roasting training with us. We plan to take the buying over ourselves but have realised that to start with we need some help to get it right as we have not had sufficient time to learn to the high standard we want to, alongside everything else that has been going on.
