Where have the last 7 weeks gone? That's right, we can't believe it either, we are 7 weeks old in our new 2nd home of Ellon. In some ways it feels like we have been there forever and in others feels like we are have only been there a week! It has been fun to see how the cafe has started to settle in, after working hard at getting it all up to speed. It is very similar to our cafe in Udny and yet it also feels so different, particularly to work in!
We are in awe of all the new staff who have had to hit the ground sprinting for their lives! They have been amazing! It was then great fun to put aside the aprons and hang out as a team at our Apothecary family dinner a few weeks ago. The chefs rocked out a few dishes that are floating around in the ideas pool for our evening openings.
We got an alcohol license for our Ellon cafe the other week. If you didn't realise our Udny cafe has always had one - see you for a cold frothy one outside in the sun this summer! This gives us the green light to press on full steam with our plans to open the Ellon cafe till 10pm every evening.
Think relaxed atmosphere, five lines of awesome, interesting craft beer with no doubt a few utterly ludicrous ones thrown in there, lip smacking wines, a few gins alongside our usual coffees etc (watch out for our mean espresso martini making its way across from Udny). We can't wait!
The kitchen has also been working hard and messing around with lots of ideas. Our head chef in Ellon, the incredible Kenny Smart, is a huge fan of fermentation and pickling, adding amazing little twists to the dishes. From what we have tasted so far all I can say is that the evenings are going to be a treat and we can't wait to welcome you then!
